The cylinder is not assembled from commodity hardware. The piston, cylinder body, piston rod and seal set are matched as a set, similar to the way an experienced fitter hand-finishes a matched pair. That is why the cylinder runs stably under high pressure for years without losing gland pressure.
Different forklift tonnages use different inner diameters and strokes, so the tilt cylinder model has to match the truck. Raydafon stocks and produces seven standard models from QA20V500 through A45M300, and can produce a custom model against a customer drawing. For trucks that need the vertical lift function instead, Raydafon also produces the Forklift Lift Cylinder.

The tilt cylinder pushes the piston in a reciprocating motion which drives the mast to tilt forward and backward. Hydraulic oil enters through one of the two ports at the cylinder base; the piston rod extends and pushes the mast forward, or retracts and pulls the mast back. Different from other hydraulic components, this cylinder runs smoothly in both directions because the bore and rod surfaces are matched to the seal set.
On heavy or irregular cargo, the operator uses the tilt function to level the load before lifting. Accurate angle control is what prevents the load from shifting and keeps the truck stable. Raydafon tests the tilt cylinder under 7-14 MPa working pressure to confirm that the response stays smooth under full load.

The cylinder housing and piston rod are made from high-strength steel. The seal set includes a dust wiper, U-ring, rod seal, hole seal, back-ring, O-ring, wear-ring and du bush. The seals use wear-resistant compound, which gives low oil leakage and low wear in dusty warehouse or humid environments.
The cylinder uses screw fixation and a retaining ring connection. Maintenance staff can replace the oil seal or troubleshoot the cylinder by unscrewing the screws and removing the retaining ring. This can be done in minutes without removing the entire mast from the forklift.
